Displaying Deceased Veteran's Medals by Next-of-Kin

Do you agree that the Criminal Code of Canada, Section 419, should be amended to legally permit the Next-of-Kin of a deceased Veteran to display his/her medals on the right breast during Remembrance Day or similar days of Memoriam?

Medals should only be worn by those who earned them. I have seen youngsters wearing their relatives medals(even though it is illegal), and it just does not sit well with me. Some people will abuse the privilege if it is granted. Leave it be..

I fully agree with the above. No one but the person who earned them should be allowed to wear
them. Too many teen agers are abusing the honor of the veteran by wearing them without knowing
what they are for or represent. I often frequent pawn shops and I marvel at the number of medals
there are that have been sold or pawned.

Medals of any deceased member of any National Armed Forces can be mounted with appropriate pictures of the member. An envelope can put on the back of the frame to hold memorabilia pertaining to the member. If the family no longer wants to have these items sending them onto his regimental association museum, a Legion Hall of Honour, his/her school, etc where they can be viewed and their service be appreciated by the younger generation.
